Meshcore Danmark

Off-grid text messaging over LoRa — no mobile network, no internet, often solar powered.

A pocket radio connects to the nearest repeater and messages hop from repeater to repeater across the country. The band is licence-free (868 MHz ISM).

Channels and regions

Meshcore uses regions (scopes) so you decide how far messages travel:

  • #dkAll of Denmark
  • #dk-sjlZealand
  • #dk-jylJutland
  • #dk-fynFunen
  • #dk-bornholmBornholm

Channel names may change — check the Meshcore Danmark community for current ones.

Radio settings (EU)

  • PresetEU/UK (Narrow)
  • Frequency869.618 MHz
  • Bandwidth62.5 kHz
  • Spreading factorSF8
  • Coding rate4/8

Everyone on the network must use the same settings to hear each other.

Getting started

  1. Buy an 868 MHz LoRa node, e.g. Heltec V3/V4, LilyGO T-Deck/T-Echo, RAK WisBlock or Seeed T1000-E.
  2. Flash Meshcore firmware in the browser via flasher.meshcore.co.uk (choose “Companion”).
  3. Install the Meshcore app and connect via Bluetooth.
  4. Pick EU/UK (Narrow), join #dk — and say hi!

Antenna and repeater

The antenna matters more than power. A good 868 MHz antenna mounted high beats the stock stubby by far.

A solar repeater typically costs around DKK 1,000 and fills a coverage gap for everyone nearby.
